Imphal, Nov 04: People of the state today remembered late Lungnilla Elizabeth on her 11th Death Anniversary. Fitting tributes were paid to the mortal remains of her at Little Flower School, where she studied.
Father of late Luningla Elizabeth who is also the Minister of R & D, Francis Ngajokpa today donated Rs. 3 Lakhs to Little Flower School in the name of her daughter for maintenance of Library.
8 years old Luningla Elizabeth was kidnapped in the year of 2003 and 8 days later her mutilated body was found in a sack. She was then a student of class IV. Remembering the brutal murder of the 8 years old Elizabeth, Little Flower English School observed her 11th death anniversary.
On the ocassion, Francis Ngajokpa, Minister of R & D announced to build a waiting shed on Elizabeth’s name inside the school campus for the school students. He also donated Rs. 3 Lakhs for the maintenance of School Library.
Speaking on the occasion, Francis Ngajokpa said such observation will not happen from next year onwards to save time for the school students. The contribution he made today is to let Luningla remain with her friends forever, said Ngajokpa. Remembering his late daughter Francis further said if she was alive she would have been a graduate student. Francis encouraged the LFS students to study hard and become successful in life and said the institution is not only the future of Manipur but for North East regions.
Minister of Education, CAF and PD, M. Okendro also attended the function said that he strongly condemn against crime against women. There is a necessity of empowerment of girls to avoid and fight such atrocities on girls. He further mentioned stories of courageous girls like Malala Yousuf who had recently won Nobel Peace Prize and encouraged the students of LFS to study hard and venture to meet the challenge of innovative girl’s education in the emerging society and also international competitors.
