While joining hands with JCILPS, who is spearheading the ongoing demand for implementation of Inner Liner Permit system in Manipur, auto drivers’ associations have stop their service today and staged state-wide protest demonstrations across the state.
As part of the protest auto drivers of Lainingthou Transport Co-operative Society Limited, Wangoi; Mantripukhri and Sagolband area has organized a sit-in-protest at Wangoi Bazar, Mantripukhri and Sagolband respectively.
One of the protestors from Wangoi said that they organized the protest demonstration in support of the ongoing demand for implementation of Inner Liner Permit in the state.
He also demanded to implement a permit system for non-locals in Manipur and bring an end to the issue.
Auto drivers of Lilong area organized a protest auto rickshaw rally from Lilong to Chanchipur. They staged sit-in-protest near Manipur University, Canchipur.
Meanwhile, around 70 auto drivers of Sekmai area marched a rally from Sekmai to Imphal. They were spotted by security forces at Chingmeirong Khongnang-makhong and from there they were sent back.
Auto drivers of Mayang Imphal, who marched towards Imphal via Kakching have been stooped near Singjamei traffic point.
Meanwhile, some of the agitation supporters various auto who had violated the bandh by suspected volunteers of the Passenger auto body. According to report reaching here 5 diesel auto were vandalised at Wangoi area at around noon for violating the agitation. At Kiyamgei maning leikai too suspected volunteers of the auto body vandalise a tata magic passenger vehicle at around 12.40 pm today. On the other hand police arrested five suspected volunteers from Wahengbam Leikai area.
