ATUM clarifies, says no criminal activities by NSCN-IM at Pallel area

Imphal, Oct 6: Reacting to a statement by RT. Akhel Aimol, Tuikhang Village, Bishenpur district through local media President of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATUM) S. Munthuireng and his collective Staff today said that there wasn’t any sort of alleged criminal activities like, demand, extortion, ransom, etc. perpetrated on the innocent villagers, esp. the Aimol employees allegedly by the NSCN (IM) cadre at Aimol Villages of Pallel and Tengnoupal, as claimed by TR. Akhel.
“In fact, the former (employees) have no idea about such harassment committed on them. The statement was totally false and baseless. It is warned that he shouldn’t continue to act or spew venomous propaganda under the instigation of some vested interests. By doing so, he is only keeping the lives of the innocent villagers and Aimol employees at risk, also crippling and entangling their liberties – to be seen , as if they are challenging the nation. Besides he is inviting unnecessary trouble and confusion to tarnish the image of the Aimol populace and disrupt the calm and still atmosphere within the Aimol area, Pallel. He is trying to mislead the general public esp., the state Govt. in the wrong light”, a press statement of the Union said.
The statement also alleged TR. Akhel of self contradictory when he said that community cannot be altered – neither Naga nor Kuki as he has been elected/appointed Vice President of Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM), on 17th May, 2017, current year.
