ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO-GHQ calls 48 hours state wide bandh on Sept 14

All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga Student Association Manipur (ANSAM, Kuki Students’ Organisation GHQ, has called 48 hours statewide bandh from September 14 over government failure to fulfill the charter of demand submitted to the government.
A press statement by Information & Publicity secretary of ATSUM, Micha Kamei said that that the charter of demand agreed on 13 August 2019 between the Government of Manipur and ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO-GHQ at the Chief Minister conference hall has not been converted into action till today.
The students body said that the students bodies had decided to called statewide bandh from Sept. 14 as per resolution adopted in the General Assembly of the ATSUM held on 7 September 2020 at Hmar community hall Lamphel.
The charter of demands submitted by the students’ bodies that was assured by the government are filling up of ST back log/shortfall posts of Assistant Professors in government colleges; opening of approved B.Ed centres in the Hill Districts; Opening of Science stream in Tamenglong and Senapati government colleges; Formulation of District Cadre recruitment; To stop the culture of Utilisation of Government employees; Recruitment of approved MIL (tribal dialect) teachers in government colleges and schools; Regularisation of Hills Contract Teachers 2006 batch; Recruitment of adequate staffs in the directorate of Tribal Affairs and Hills; Inclusion of Mother tongue (Child’s language) as an essential qualification in the recruitment of primary teachers under 6 (six) Autonomous District Councils; Up gradation of TRI into full fledged Directorate; Enactment of Legislation/Act for implementation of Tribal Sub Scheme (TSS); Filling up of ST back log/short falls of all categories in various departments.; Implementation of reservation quantum as per DoPT, govt. of India in direct recruitment to group C and D posts in central institutions.; Improvement of adequate manpower and infrastructures in Health Services and posting specialist Doctors in the hill districts and Upgradation of IGNTU-RC into full fledged University.
In addition to this the student bodies also put forward the the State government’s failure to meet the MoU signed on 9th June 2018 between State Government and ATSUM, DESAM and AIMS pertaining to appointment of Native IAS officer as the Chief Secretary; Imbroglio between the government of Manipur and Hill District Private Schools Association Manipur (HIDIPSAM); MCSCCE 2016 main examination: Accelerate CBI enquiry and Re-examination should not be conducted until & unless CBI’s probe is duly completed and the culprits involved are befittingly punished; Implementation of reservation in promotion in MSPDCL; Halting of mining in hill areas and Disbursal of Pre and post matric scholarship under ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of Manipur.
In view of the prevailing pandemic, COVID-19 related activities, Media and Medical services are exempted from the purview of the proposed bandh.
