Assam Rifles seizes Brown Sugar worth Rs 1.16 Crores

In its continued efforts on seizures and apprehensions, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S), apprehended a drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar worth Rs 1.16 Cr at Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi.

Yesterday based on specific input from a reliable source, a team from Khudengthabi post stopped a Black colour Auto Rickshaw, without registration number which was moving from Moreh to Khudengthabi. On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, 42 packets of orange coloured powder suspected to be Brown Sugar and weighing approximately 582 gms (including packing material) was found hidden inside the body of the Auto Rickshaw. The contraband was being transported by a person named Mr Jampao Khungsai, age 40 years, S/O Late Gaukhojan Khongsai, R/O Khudengthabi village, PO – Moreh, PS – Moreh, Dist – Tengnoupal, Manipur. There were no other passengers in the Auto Rickshaw. The approximate cost of Brown Sugar is Rs 1.16 Crores.        

Assam Rifles is determined to prevent smuggling of narcotics and contraband items through the area of responsibility there by protecting the youth of our country from drug abuse.
