Assam Rifles allegedly operating with KNF cadres amid valley protests

IT News
Senapati, Feb 22:

Amid ongoing protests in the valley over the arrest of village volunteers and the Manipur Governor’s directive to surrender arms, fresh allegations have surfaced regarding the Assam Rifles’ alleged collaboration with armed KNF cadres in the hill areas.
Despite no official announcement on the extension of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement, which expired in February last year, reports suggest that Assam Rifles personnel have been seen operating alongside KNF cadres.
According to a highly reliable source, residents of Senapati district caught an Assam Rifles team moving with five KNF cadres. Reports indicate that suspicious activity was detected near Lairou Karong in Senapati district around 12:30 AM last night.
Sources claim the team belonged to Charlie 16 Assam Rifles, led by a CO, accompanied by five KNF cadres. They were reportedly traveling in two Thar vehicles near Maram’s Lairou when locals intercepted them. Upon questioning, the team allegedly stated they were returning after meeting Brigadier Bikram Singh UVSM of the 22 Sector.
The incident has raised concerns over the role of security forces in the region.
