An art-based therapy programme along with a convergence meeting aimed at supporting the psychological and emotional well-being of internally displaced children was jointly organised by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) and the District Child Protection Unit, Kangpokpi. The programme focused on creating a safe and supportive space for children affected by displacement to express themselves through creative activities and receive psychosocial care.
The initiative also marked the third phase of relief distribution for internally displaced persons in Kangpokpi district. During this phase, essential relief materials including small blankets, eggs, milk powder, sugar, cakes, and other nutritious snacks were distributed to children and families residing in relief camps. The support was provided to help meet immediate needs during the winter season and to improve nutritional intake among children.
Earlier, as part of the first phase of assistance, sports materials were distributed to all relief camps in the district as identified by the district administration. The objective was to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and positive engagement among children living in camp conditions.
In the second phase, school bags were distributed to displaced children, along with stationery items to support their continued education despite the disruption caused by the crisis. The organisers stated that the phased interventions were designed to address the physical, educational, and emotional needs of displaced children in a holistic manner.
Officials from the MCPCR and the District Child Protection Unit reiterated their commitment to continue coordinated efforts to ensure the protection, development, and overall well-being of internally displaced children in the district.
