Arambai Tenggol has welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive to restore religious places damaged during the ongoing conflict in Manipur, which began on May 3, 2023. The organization has urged the state administration to take immediate steps to reconstruct Hindu temples and Meitei religious sites that were allegedly destroyed by armed groups.
In a statement, Robin Mangang Khwairakpam, Public Relations Officer of Arambai Tenggol, described Amit Shah’s initiative as a significant step toward restoring harmony and preserving the cultural heritage of Manipur. He emphasized the importance of reconstructing sacred sites, stating that it would help bring peace and unity among communities.
Arambai Tenggol also issued a strong message to those involved in violence, urging them to abandon hostilities and respect the Indian Constitution. The organization warned against any attempts to destabilize Manipur’s territorial integrity, declaring that such actions will not be tolerated.
“The Central Government has taken a step towards an amicable solution, and it is our responsibility to adhere to their directives. We will not remain silent if the crisis continues. Necessary actions will be taken to protect our land and our people,” the statement added.
The ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur has resulted in widespread destruction, causing deep distress among communities. Arambai Tenggol stressed that peace and development should be prioritized, calling on all citizens to support the government’s efforts to restore normalcy.
The organization reiterated its commitment to defending Manipur’s unity, urging people to unite against elements disrupting peace. “Let us come together as one nation and one people to secure a brighter future for Manipur,” the statement concluded.
