Arambai Tenggol supports for peace efforts, seeks stricter immigration measures

Arambai Tenggol has stated its commitment to fostering peace and normalcy in Manipur, stating that it has been working on the frontline in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the State Administration to restore order in the state.
In a statement issued by Laishram Robason, Control Room Operator of Arambai Tenggol (GHQ), the organization expressed unwavering support for all initiatives aimed at achieving stability and lasting tranquility. It noted that the recently re-negotiated Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact was an important step towards peace, but raised concern over the ongoing situation relating to the Kuki population, which it alleged comprised largely of illegal immigrants and refugees from Myanmar.
The statement maintained that many such individuals came from a cultural background that did not align with India’s legal framework, leading to conflicts with constitutional expectations. It alleged that despite the Central Government’s peace efforts, certain Kuki groups had openly defied initiatives, with their rejection of proposed measures seen as counterproductive to harmony and peace-building.
Calling for a more stringent approach, the organization suggested that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) could serve as a mechanism to detect and deport illegal immigrants, thereby strengthening immigration control and safeguarding constitutional integrity.
Arambai Tenggol further pledged its continued cooperation with all Government policies and programs aimed at strengthening the rule of law, ensuring national security, and promoting peaceful coexistence among all communities in Manipur.
