Troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered 05 Maroon coloured stones (Probably unprocessed Ruby Crystals) weighing 104 grams, approximately worth Rs. 6.76 lakhs on NH – 102 near Khudengthabi check post on September 30. An AR press statement said that personnel at the AR post were alerted after getting specific inputs regarding smuggling of precious stones. When searched nearby areas along the road and a small transparent coloured polybag was recovered but no one accepted the ownership of the polybag, it said. The recovered stones were handed over to the Customs Department, Moreh for further verification.
