AR recovers explosives

Based on specific intelligence regarding transportation of explosives,31 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of PLA on 11 September 2016from Nampisha in Ukhrul District. They were carrying explosives to Imphal in a Mahindra Jeep bearing Registration Number MNS-5862. A thorough search of the vehicle led to recovery of two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 8.76 Kgs, two detonators and other incriminating articles. One of the apprehenders is related to a PLA cadre operating from village Onzia in Myanmar and has been actively providing assistance to PLA for carrying out violent incidents against security forces. These recoveries have averted a major IED incident in Imphal and will definitely give a serious blow to the nefarious designs of UG groups trying to disturb the prevailing peaceful environment in the state. The apprehenders along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Litan Police Station.
