Anti ILPS agitation intensifies at Churachandpur General Strike paralyzes Hill district

The indefinite general strike called against the passing of the 3 government Bills by the Manipur State legislative Assembly by KSO, ATSUM and ASAM has severely affected normal life in Hill districts of Manipur with the protest reaching catastrophe at Churachandpur district. The volunteers of the KSO and other students’ body based in the district intensified today after the death of the 4 people I yesterday fury. A team of reporters who went to the district today morning witness people of the area placing electric poles placing in the middle of the road and burning of tyres and other materials. The reporters showed a vehicle burnt in flames in the middle of the road at Churachandpur Bazar.
There are however, no reports of any communal intention towards the agitators as their main target were the residence of the elected representatives and the police station. However, the minority Meitei people were reportedly gathered at a safer places fearing unwanted crisis by the district administration.
In today’s protest at least two people were reportedly injured seriously in police action inside the Churachandpur police station and later died at the spot at around 3 pm today. Unconfirmed report said that all the several others too sustain serious injury. With the death of the two more people the death toll rise to 6.
The Hill base body particularly the KSO has been opposing the passing of the MLR&LR Act (Seven Amendment Bill) 2015 as the clause of the amendment do not left out the Hill areas where the Act was not in force.

Several vehicles stranded at Tengnoupal due to flash bandh along the Imphal – Moreh Section of National Highway 102 imposed by the Kuki Students ’ Organisation (KSO), All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) and All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) against the introduction and passing of three Bills in the special session of the Manipur Assembly on August last.
More than 100 Passengers and goods carrying vehicles coming from Moreh were stranded at Tengnoupal Police Station since morning. And vehicles coming from Imphal could not proceed beyond Saivom Village as Bandh supporters blocked the highway at Saivom and Tengnoupal Village.
Speaking to media persons, Daniel Mate, President KSO Tengnoupal Block said that the bandh was inforced indefinitely in continuation of the 12 hrs Hill Districts bandh called by the All Tribal Students ‘ Union Manipur,  All Naga Students ’ Association Manipur ( ANSAM ) and Kuki Students ’ Organisation against the introduction and passing of  the Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill 2015, the Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill 2015 and the Manipur Shops & Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill 2015 by the State Government in the Special session of the Manipur Assembly recent.
He also strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing towards the civilians causing injury to several protestors and instantly killing some others at Churachanpur last night.
While appealed all not to paint communal tint towards the agitation of the joint Tribal Students ’ bodies, the Student’s leader also maintained that the students body will protect and uphold the rights of the Tribal at any cost.
