The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has appealed for an organized observance of 80th Naga Independence Day on August 14 and for Naga students and the general masses to boycott the celebrations of India’s Independence Day on August 15.
The above decision came in light of resolutions passed during ANSAM’s 3rd Legislative Assembly Session for the 2024-2026 tenure which was held at Chamdil Christian Village in Chandel district on August 10.
ANSAM instructed its constituent and subordinate associations to hoist the Naga National Flag on their respective Okings on August 14. It also appealed to government and private institutions in Naga inhabited areas to give a holiday to observe the occasion.
ANSAM in a political statement has appealed Naga students, youths and the general masses to refrain from attending and participating in the celebration of August 15.
ANSAM gave various reasons such as breach of the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement by the Government of India, militarization and AFSPA in the Naga area, efforts to divide the Naga people, violation of Naga rights and non-justice in alleged human rights abuse cases.
