AMWJU launches distinctive press Jacket for journalist

The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) today launched the distinctive press jacket for state journalists. Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam attended the launching function of the distinctive press jacket as chief guest at Manipur Press Club. The distinctive press jacket is being introduced for easy classification of journalist while covering news event during any sort of crimes or mass agitation. Somorjit Salam, MCS, Director DIPR, Addl. DGP, Spl DGP of Manipur Government and Wangkhemcha Shamjai, President AMWJU attended the function as guests of honours and president respectively.
Speaking on the launching function Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam appealed the journalist to make good use of the distinctive jacket by the state journalists. He said such jacket which will identify a person as journalist should not be misused by any persons for wrong purpose.
DIPR Director Salam Somorjit said that with the introduction of the dress code the state journalist will now feel the dignity of being a journalist. He said like the police personnel, the journalists too will be identified easily in the uniform.
