Imphal, Aug 13:
The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organization (AMUCO) and the Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) held a commemoration ceremony at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Floral tributes were offered at the martyrs’ statues, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
AMUCO President, Pheirojam Nando Luwang, delivered a stirring speech, emphasizing the enduring spirit of the patriots who put the motherland above their own lives. He expressed concern over recent violence, stating, “The Kuki-Zo community is attacking our people, and now, Indian central forces are siding with them, facilitating their attacks on the Meiteis. This situation arises because we are not truly independent.”
Nando Luwang highlighted the timeless courage of the martyrs, asserting that their spirit remains alive and inspires the present generation. “These martyrs and patriots are immortal, and their bravery continues to live on within us,” he said. However, there are many youths who are not doing anything for the motherland, according to Nando Luwang.
The event, he said, is to remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for the freedom and integrity of Manipur, highlighting the need for unity and resilience in the face of current challenges. It provides an impetus for our youth to sacrifice their lives and live for the motherland.
