The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) has extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur belonging to all communities on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, one of the State’s most cherished traditional festivals.
In a statement issued by Heisnam Phoren Mangang, Secretary (Publicity) of AMUCO, the organization noted that Ningol Chakkouba, which originated during the reign of Maharaj Chandrakirti Singh (1831–1886), is a deeply valued cultural practice symbolizing love and family unity. The festival marks the day when married women visit their parental homes to renew emotional bonds with their parents and brothers through affection, blessings, and shared meals.
The statement highlighted that Ningol Chakkouba carries profound social importance, strengthening relationships between sisters and brothers while fostering a spirit of community harmony across households and communities. It stands as a timeless reminder of Manipur’s enduring traditions of affection, unity, and togetherness.
At a time when Manipur and the wider world face various challenges, AMUCO observed that the festival’s message of love, peace, and mutual understanding remains especially relevant.
The organization expressed its sincere hope that the people of Manipur would celebrate Ningol Chakkouba in the true spirit of joy, peace, and solidarity, upholding the cultural and emotional values that define the festival.
