AMSU observed 49th Foundation Day

All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) today observed its 49th Foundation Day at the AMSU H/Q, D.M. College Campus. Hawaibam Deleep Singh- IAS, Director of Education (S), Thiyam Naresh- President, AMSU, Dr. Hamom Nabachandra Singh- Chairman, Council of Hr. Sec. Education and RK Itocha- Asst. Prof., Pol. Sc. Dept. Imphal College & Former President, AMSU graced the function as Chief Guest, President & Guests of Honour respectively. Delivering his presidential speech, Thiyam Naresh reiterated that the development of a state or a region depends to a great degree on the level of development of education of that particular state or region, and that the term “Quality Education” connotes more than the study by rote to earn distinctions and positions in order to become doctors and engineers. Elaborating on the real meaning of quality education, Naresh points out that the term implies the type of education which would enable a student to become ideal citizens who can contribute to the development and peaceful existence of the state. The President also disclosed that the Golden Jubilee celebration next year will be a year-long event with the celebration committee to be comprised of former office bearers of the Union, and will launch a campaign covering the North East India for unifying the different communities. He also appealed to the various civil society groups, meira paibis and students’ organizations to support the effort. A website will be launched shortly after consultation with experts, the president added.
