The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) organised a one-day academic campaign at Wangkhei High School under the theme “Realise to Save the Indigenous People of Manipur” as part of its ongoing awareness initiatives.
Speaking at the programme, AMSU Secretary General Salam Changkhonba said students have a crucial role in the ongoing efforts to safeguard Manipur. He observed that along with pursuing education and striving to become responsible citizens, it is equally important for students to remain aware of the prevailing situation in the state and understand their responsibilities towards protecting it.
He cautioned that failure to recognise such responsibilities could lead to a vulnerable situation where people may lose control over their own land. He further stated that safeguarding the state requires collective awareness and participation, adding that if people do not take responsibility, others will not do so on their behalf.
The campaign, described as part of AMSU’s broader academic outreach, focused on raising awareness among students on issues concerning the protection of indigenous communities and the need for unity.
Students of Wangkhei High School along with AMSU members attended the programme.
