AMLIG questions government’s commitment to 2019 BUDS Act

IT News
Imphal, July 21:

The All Manipur Lamjingba Investors Group (AMLIG) and its Board of Directors have raised concerns regarding the status of their dedicated legal expert, necessary for advancing their case under the 2019 BUDS Act. In a press release held today at the Majorkhul Press Club, AMLIG questioned the government’s commitment to the Act, which has been pending since September 2023.
AMLIG emphasized the urgent need to appoint a legal expert to end what they described as a “war of letters,” urging the competent authority to take immediate action. Since the Manipur Gazette notification in 2021, AMLIG has registered around 4,000 complainants and attached properties to the relevant authorities. However, the absence of a legal expert has obstructed their ability to forward their case to the designated court.
Additionally, AMLIG called for investigations into several entities, including TOM TV, Kangla Food Products, Lamjingba Hospital (Langol Lairembi Hospital), and Lamjingba Brick Farm (Lanchenbi Brick Farm, Heirok). They demanded the names of the individuals running these businesses from the competent authorities.
The organization also notified staff and members who have submitted passbooks and original documents but have not received the guaranteed money. They were asked to come forward with a surrendered copy and Xerox of their documents.
