Imphal, Jan 11: A team of State Police led by Lamphel Police OC K. Dinesh arrested a person who reportedly extorts money using an illegal arms. The arrested goon is identified as Kaiyenpaibam Sanjit@ Apui (39) s/o Late Kaiyenpaibam Lalmani singh of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam leikai. Report said the arrested person carried out illegal activities like threatening and extortion, disturbing general public in the adjoining areas of Sagolband Tera under Lamphel police station. On receiving the information the Lamphel Police OC team rushed to the site and conducted search operation for the said person at around 9.30 am yesterday morning. Police source said that the person was arrested from his residence at around 10.30 am yesterday. From his possession the police team recovered one 0. 32 revolver bearing number FG255 00 loaded with 6 live rounds, 1 double barrel rifle bearing number 7258611,18 numbers of 0. 32 live ammunitions, one M 20 pistol bearing number N010418 loaded with one life round, 1 gun licence bearing number 5018/iW issued in his name, one iPhone 8 plus with Airtel SIM and 1 Samsung Galaxy 8 with Vodafone SIM card. Kaiyenpaibam Sanjit told the police that the weapons he possessed- 0.32 revolver and double barrel rifle were in respect of his particular gun licence. However he failed to produce any relevant documents in respect of the M20 pistol which clearly indicates that the said weapon is in his or unauthorised position he further admitted that he sometimes knows himself is a police personnel showing off his handguns to others to carry out illegal activities like threatening others. He was arrested on the spot at around 11.0 5 a.m. from his house along with the fire arms on the charge of unauthorised possession of firearms.
