Imphal, July 24:
Advocates and staff of the Lamphel Court Complex staged a protest today, blocking the main road to draw attention to the dire state of the surrounding roads. The demonstrators highlighted the frequent accidents and daily inconveniences caused by the deteriorating road conditions.
The protest, which began in the early hours, saw a significant turnout as both court employees and local residents joined forces. Holding placards and chanting slogans, the protesters demanded immediate government intervention to repair the damaged roads.
“We are facing daily hardships due to these terrible road conditions. It’s not just about inconvenience; it’s a serious safety issue. Accidents are becoming a common occurrence,” said one of the advocates participating in the protest.
The protesters highlight the urgent need for a safe and accessible environment, calling on the public work department ministers and other authorities to take swift action. They stressed that the current state of the roads is unacceptable and poses a significant risk to everyone who uses them.
As the protest continued, traffic in the area was heavily disrupted, with many commuters expressing frustration over the lack of proper infrastructure maintenance.
Local authorities have yet to respond to the demands, but the protest has sparked a broader discussion about the state of infrastructure in the region and the need for immediate improvements.
