ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak today alleged Meetei National Front (MNF) and International Observation Committee on Puya Mei Thaba of misleading the people of the state by observing Puya Mei Thaba on different date.
A press statement released today by Sanjit Soraisam, Secretary General of ACOAM-Lup said that the organization has been remembering Puya Mei Thaba as “Amamba Numit” on 17th day of Mera every year. On the other hand Meitei National Front and International Observation Committee on Puya Mei Thaba (ICOP) observed Puya Mei Thaba on 23rd day of Wakching. There is a big difference among these organizations on the year and date on which Puyas were burnt. ACOAM-Lup has sufficient evidence such as books, documents and records.
It further said that it is not good to ignore Cheitharol Kumbaba, which is regarded as the source of reference for historical events of Manipur. Those who ignore Cheitharol Kumbaba are not Meitei. Puyas were burnt on 5th October, 1732 during the reign of King Pamheiba.
The statement also added that International Committee on Puya on Mei Thaba (ICOP) should apologize to the people of the state for misleading them for 37 years.
