Waikhong Police on November 4 arrested the man who murder Khumukcham Gandhamani Devi of Kakching Khunou with hammer on October 25. She died on October 28.
The arrested man was identified as one Elangbam Inao @ Pungyeiba (43), S/O (L) Elangbam Tombi of Hiyanglam Warak Khong. He is a teacher of Manipuri Traditional Drum (Pung).
Police said the accused was arrested yesterday at around 3 PM from Thanga, Bishenpur District. The accused was having an affair with the deceased women and has admitted the murdered case following argument on that unfaithful night, said Police.
Sources said, tension arises today morning at around 10 and police fired tear gas shells in controlling mob who marched towards the resident of the culprit. Later the situation was under controlled after Meira Paibis and JAC formed against the killing of Gandhamani came to a level of agreement.
