Tulihal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted monthly security meets at Mayang Imphal, Nambol, Patsoi, and Tulihal Company Operating Bases. The forums were attended by Village Pradhans and Ward members of Gram Panchayats, Councillors, Village Secretaries, Youth Club members, Ex-Servicemen, representatives of local Police Stations, School Principals and local contractors and local vendors.
Various issues pertaining to security, maintenance of peace and harmony in the area and current situation existing in the area of responsibility was discussed . Problems of extortion demands, drug peddlers and drug addiction were discussed in detail and the role of Meira Paibis in curbing the drugs menace was highlighted. In addition to the security issues, future action plan in respect of civic action projects like medical camps, provision of Solar Street lights, recruitment in Assam Rifles and Army and career counseling for youth were also discussed during the meet. Villagers were also educated on the importance of hygiene and sanitation and ways have been suggested to the villagers to keep their surrounding clean and healthy.
The response of the meets was constructive and locals expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for conduct of such security meetings and ensuring peace in the area and assured their commitment and assistance in maintaining the same. The security meet concluded with tea and refreshments for all the attendees.
