The 94th Air Force Day was celebrated at MPP Hall, NCC Imphal, GP HQ, with MLA Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency Khumukcham Joykisan Singh calling upon students to draw inspiration from the armed forces and consider a career in the services.
The programme, organised by 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC Imphal, was held under the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise.”
Speaking on the occasion, Joykisan said Air Force Day is observed on October 8 to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force in 1932 and honour its personnel who have served the nation. He highlighted the force’s role in major conflicts, disaster response, humanitarian assistance and evacuation operations.
He urged students to consider joining the armed forces, describing military service as a life of discipline, honour, adventure and selfless service. He also paid tribute to personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and acknowledged the contributions of serving air warriors, veterans and their families.
Wing Commander Mutum Sandip Singh, Commanding Officer, 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC Imphal, said the occasion was an opportunity to remember the courage and dedication of air warriors and honour those who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
He said the Indian Air Force has continuously adapted to changing operational requirements through modern technology and innovation while upholding the values of integrity, service and excellence.
The celebration featured videos showcasing the journey of the Indian Air Force, besides cultural performances of songs and dances.
Brigadier Vikrant Kulkarni, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Imphal; Group Captain Binoy Chongtham (Retd.); Nancy Sharma, CTO, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khumbong; air veterans, officers, staff and NCC cadets attended the programme.
