The five students including two girl who had been continuing fast-unto-death-protest in front of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School demanding implementation of ILPS and punishment of police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood, after police had picked the first five students on early morning of August 16, were today picked up by a team of state police at around 9.30 am today. Locals of the area and other Meira Paibi who had been showing solidarity with the protesting students tried to resist the police team from taking the students, but the police team accompanied by lady police, forcibly pull up the student and detain at security ward RIMS, where they were provided medical treatment.
The two other persons who were undergoing fast-unto-death protest with the same demand, opposite to Thangmeiband College gate since August 16 were also picked up by a team of Manipur Police and detained at security ward RIMS. The two persons were Pratap Leishanthem and Laishram Gunindro.
Soon after the five students were picked up another 5 students continue fast-unto-death protest at the same place today morning . They are identified as Thongam Malemgnaba Meitei s/o Th Amuba Meitei (Lamlong Higher Secondary School class X) of Maiba Khun, Thingujam Rickey Singh (The Eastern Ideal High School, class IX) s/o Th Dhiren Singh of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai, Samurailatpam Sushil(Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy ,class XI science ) s/o Kh Khojendro of Kongba Nandeibam Leikei Chongabi,Mangsatabam Nongdolleima Chanu (Lamlong Higher Secondary School Class XI) s/o M. Bormani of Kairang Mamang leikei, Irom Jotin kumar (Jonhstone Higher Secondary School class XI)s/o I.Dinachandra of Mana Ingkhol Mayai Leikai.
The earlier five students who were detained by police and undergoing treatment at RIMS still resisted to take any food. However, three of them including the girl student Bidyaluxmi were giving medication as their health deteriorated. But two other students still resisted from giving any medication to them.
Interestingly, soon after the arrest of Pratap Leishangthem and Laishram Gunindro, a Meira Paibi of Hijam Leikai Thongam Apabi (65) W/O Th Modhusudon, began fast-unto-death at the same place from today morning at around 8 am. Meanwhile, the 6 persons undergoing fast-unto death protest has been undergoing till today. Their conditions is stated to be deteriorating.
