69th R-Day celebrated at all district headquarters

Imphal, Jan 27 : The 69th Republic Day Celebration was held at District level in the District Headquarters.

IMPHAL EAST: The 69th Republic Day, 2018 was celebrated today under the aegis of the District Administration at the District Headquarters, Porompat, Imphal East District with fervour and gaiety. For the first time, since the inception of the district in 1997, march past was held from Porompat Police Station to DC office complex, Imphal East by 19 contingents comprising of Police, Schools, Colleges, Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Anganwadi workers, Thang Ta group, Dance troupes and a Tableau of KVK Imphal East. Grand salute was received by Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East,  Th. Chitra Devi in the DC office complex.

One national teacher awardee and one State teacher awardee were honoured with shawls. Social Athletic Club of Top Mayai Leikai, Imphal East which was chosen by NYK, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India for “Outstanding Youth Club Award, 2017” was felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-. The DC Commendation certificates were also distributed to deserving officials as recommended by the respective Head of Office of the offices working within the jurisdiction of Imphal East District.

The celebration was witnessed by the elected members of the District, District level Officials and the public approximately to around 1500 people.

CHANDEL : People of Chandel District observed the 69th Indian Republic Day at Maha Union Higher Secondary School campus, Chandel. Krishna Kumar, IAS, DC, Chandel unfurled the tri colour and took the guard of honour at the function as the Chief Guest. Shri Soram Ingo Singh, Dy. Commandant, 8th MR, Leikun, Chandel commanded the Republic Day parade participated by 20 contingents.

Speaking on the occasion, . Shri Krishna Kumar said that social and economic justice should prevail in the district with active participation of the people. He assured that the district administration is duty bound to achieve what is enshrined in the Constitution. “I appeal to people of Chandel district in the development process of the district and ensure that people of the district enjoy equal prosperity and development like the rest of the country” he said. Different prizes, red blankets and appreciation certificates were also distributed in the function.

TAMENGLONG: The District administration, Tamenglong celebrated the 69th Republic day at the lower ground, Tamenglong Headquarters. Shri Armstrong Pame, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong, unfurled the national flag and took the salute from parade contingents. 

Altogether 20(twenty) contingents consisting of 5th MR platoon, Manipur civil police and 16(sixteen) schools students and one college took the March past a distance of nearly 2km from Zadonang park till the republic day venue. 

Md.Abul Kalam,MPS, DSP, Tamenglong was the parade commander of the March past contingents. 

In his first Republic Day speech Deputy Commissioner, Armstrong Pame greeted the people of Tamenlong on behalf of the president of India, Prime Minister of India, Governor of Manipur and Chief Minister of Manipur, and the MLA of Tamenglong and Tamei. 

Armstrong opined that we should stand united and abiding the constitution of India. He also said under the leadership of CM N. Biren within the 6(six) months the district hospital has been inaugurated and open for the people of Tamenglong. He also said that SBI bank will be open very soon in Tamei and PSU bank will soon come up in the remotest sub-division of Taosem. Armstrong also said that Tamenglong District is aiming to be the first “free open defecation” district in Manipur.  Public toilet and water supply scheme will be soon provided to the people of the district lamented Armstrong Pame.

In his speech he urged the government machinery and the government servants to give their best efforts to the people of Tamenglong. In order to enhance the communication facilities Pame said that Reliance and Idea cellular network will be coming very shortly in the nook and corner of Tamenlong district.  Under the leadership of Tamenglong and Tamei MLAs every schemes and projects will be provided to every village added, the DC.

As a part of the republic day celebration merit of certificate award were given to  8(eight) different departments of Tamenglong district administration which includes Mr. Anthony Gangmei, Reporter, District Information Office (IPR), Tamenglong. Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong also released a District news bulletin. 23rd Assam rifles under the theme “know your army” also displayed different weapons, arms and ammunition on the Republic day.  As a part of the celebration volley ball match between 8(eight) different teams was played. 

THOUBAL : The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at Thoubal District Headquarters along with the rest of the country. The function was held at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal with much pomp, gaiety and amidst large turnout of people.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, L. Nabakishwar Singh unfurled the National Flag and took salute of 24 parade contingents which include the State Police, Home Guards, NCC Boys and Girls, student from various schools and cultural troupe. The Parade commander was Shri Amarjit Lamabam, MPS, SDPO Yairipok.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said various welfare programmes have been set up and implemented in the district.  Under the SSA numerous schools have been built. For the welfare of the women, Women help line and One stop center have been opened at the DC Complex. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya have been opened at Ukhongsang for girl students. Another such KGBV school will be set up at Lilong. Computerization of land record in the district is in progress. Under the PMAY 1586 houses have been constructed. For the welfare of the public a Grievance Cell has been opened at the ADM office.

Lauding the functioning of the police, DC said law and order situation in the district has been improved very much under the supervision of SP K. Meghachandra Singh. The District police got Chief Minister Medal for Community Policing.

Meritorious awards were distributed to the officers and staffs of various departments. The prize for best March past was bagged by Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Ukhongsang, 2nd prize was bagged by New Ideal High School, Thoubal and the 3rd prize was bagged by Thoudam Leishangthem Girls High School.

Elected members of Municipal Council, Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayats, high ranking civil and police officials of the district, school students and public participated in the celebration.

UKHRUL : District Administration Ukhrul has successfully organised the 69th Republic Day at Bakshi ground, Ukhrul with Dr. Harmot Singh Pahuja, IAS Deputy Commissioner as the Chief Guest. Altogether, 17 contingents participated in the parade and four Cultural troupe show cast their items to add colour to the celebration. Shri Ringthing Hongchui, MPS, SDPO Ukhrul was the parade commander of the march past contingents. 17 persons from various department were given special appreciation certificate awarded from the DC office. Friendly football match between DC XI vs Police XI was played, the match ended with 1-1 draw.

CHURACHANDPUR : Churachandpur district joined rest of the country in celebrating 69th Republic Day with pomp and grandeur today. Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Shyam Lal Poonia hoisted the National Tri-colour and took salute of the marching contingents comprising of civil police, VDF, cadets of different NCC units and school children at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka.

Presentation of colourful cultural items by different troupes and mesmerizing choreography by students; presentation of awards to outstanding social workers, Govt employees, village chiefs, march past contingents and a friendly football match marked the occasion.

Addressing the gatherings, DC, Churachandpur Shyam Lal Poonia said Churachandpur is a district “filled with talents to uncover and skills to groom, and a land with promising future.”

Highlighting the achievements of the district during the last one year, Shri S.L. Poonia said people of Churachandpur accepted the challenge of making the district cleanest in Manipur as it secured first position in the State level Swachta Awards. Stating that the achievement is just the beginning, the DC said that the district has more challenging task of sustaining the cleanliness.

The district administration has plans to get the district Open Defecation Free by March 2018. It is also planning to phase out polythene bags by replacing it with environment friendly alternatives and change in consumer behaviour, he said while lauding the efforts of the Churachandpur ADC towards this end.

“Climate change is no more an alien concept here,” SL Poonia said while pointing out that the DFO and his team have undertaken massive afforestation drive under National Bamboo Mission. He added that efforts are also being made to preserve critical water resources and keep the rivers clean.

Asserting that the district administration is able to contain serious disease outbreaks and that health scenario is gradually improving in the town, the DC appealed to all concerned to extend full cooperation in the days to come to enable the RKS of District Hospital revolutionise the health care system. He further urged the doctors to prescribe generic medicines only in larger public interest.

Pointing out that the district recently got ambulance with Advanced Life Support (ALS) having mini-ICU features, the DC exuded strong confidence that the ambulance will complement the efforts of CSOs who maintain their own ambulance in times of emergency.

He further said that all citizens under Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) list have been automatically included in the beneficiary list of the recently launched Chief Minister-gi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT), a scheme to provide free of cost treatment up to Rs 2 lakh for critical cases and up to Rs 50,000 for general ailment. The CMO can be approached for availing the benefits under the scheme by genuine leftover persons.

The DC also added that District Social Welfare Officer may be approached for availing another social security scheme, Chief Minister-gi Sotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST) by differently abled persons (Divyangs).

Speaking on law and order, the DC said that some major achievements have been made by the district police. Gangs of human traffickers were busted with concerted efforts from anti-human trafficking unit of Churachandpur Police thereby, restoring confidence of the people in policing. Huge recoveries of arms, ammunition and drugs were possible as a result of peoples’ faith in policing. Besides, hundreds of acres of illicit opium and poppy cultivation have been destroyed. Serious efforts are being made to provide safe and secure environment for children.

Also asserting that the noble experiment of School Mentorship has started yielding positive results, Poonia said that the public library located at the heart of the town will be made fully functional in the near future.

With road projects for CCPur-Sugnu, CCPur-Singngat, Singngat-Mualnuam, Mualnuam-Sinzawl in the offing, the district will be getting major boost on infrastructure front, he said.

A women’s market (Nu-te bazaar) is coming up in the town soon, he said while adding that PMUY and LPG Home Delivery services was inaugurated on Dec 23, 2017 wherein more than 3000 beneficiaries have been enrolled. He also said that the district is making rapid stride in the field of sports.

Amongst others, Chairman of ADC, Churachandpur Shri Khaipao Haokip, Members of ADC, SP (Ccpur) Shri Rakesh Balwal, DLOs, Chiefs and Social activists attended the grand Republic Day Celebration today.

BISHNUPUR : The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at the Bishnupur District Headquarter held at the new Stadium ground, Bishnupur. The celebration was attended by top police and civil officials with Deputy Commissioner Shri Pawan Yadav as the Chief Guest. After unfurling the national flag and playing of the national anthem the Chief Guest took the salute for the 27 march past contingents. The contingents consisted male and female Civil police, VDF, Home Guard and school students. Moreover, 7 Cultural performances were presented by various groups. Later, commendation certificates were distributed to selected Govt. employees of the District. The celebration witnessed a huge turnout from the public where thousands gathered since early morning for the auspicious day of the country.

SENAPATI: The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at Senapati District Mini Stadium ground started with the inspection of the contingents followed by the flag hosting ceremony by the Deputy Commissioner, Athem Muivah. All together 25 different contingents of Manipur Police, NCC, Higher Secondary Schools, High schools, Upper primary schools  and a Band party from the All Manipur Band Party Association took part in today’s Republic Day celebration.

Speaking on the occasion Athem Muivah said we need to reflect on the significance of 26th January and of the Constitution which embraces India’s diversity and also upholds Equality, Justice and Liberty and once again pledge our commitment to the nation building process.

In the Republic day parade Mt. Everest College, NCC(Girls), Don Bosco Hr.Sec.School (Girls) Maram and Mt. Pisgah College (Girls) bagged the First, Second and the Third positions respectively. As part of today’s function for the first time a Pung Cholom performance was also shown to the public. Four Gates were constructed in which Chief Medical Office and the PWD took the first and the second best gate awards respectively

The celebration was attended by Additional SP of the district and all district level officers and ADC members of the district.

KANGPOKPI: District Administration, Kangpokpi also celebrated the 69th Republic Day at the Brig. Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi, with Deputy Commissioner of the district M.J. Pradip Chandren, IAS, as Chief Guest. The celebration began by unfurling the tricolour National Flag accompanied by the National Anthem. The Deputy Commissioner later took salute of the Parade March commanded by M. Surat Singh, Assistant Commandant, 4th IRB, Kangpokpi. Altogether 23 contingents which include contingents of District Police, Kangpokpi, VDF, Kangpokpi, Kangpokpi Fire Service Department, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and several government and private schools in the district participated in the parade.

In his address to the public, DC, Kangpokpi Shri M.J. Pradip Chandren stated that the district administration is aware and does understand the ideals and aspirations of the people of Kangpokpi. The DC further reaffirmed his commitment and sincerity on behalf of the district administration to help improve the lives of the people of the district.

“The effective functioning of the district would not be possible just by the singular action of the district administration alone. It requires the support of the people of the district. Just as the constitution provides all citizen social and economic rights, it also prescribes duties for its citizens. Hence while it is our duty to work for the public, it is also the responsibility of the people to support the district administration and help in nation building”, the Deputy Commissioner stated.

As a part of the celebration, 23 staff and officials belonging to different offices and departments in the district were given certificates for recognition of commendable service. The Deputy Commissioner also presented red blankets to the chiefs of different villages of the district. Sports materials were also distributed to several clubs in the district and also to the District Fire Service Department and 4th IRB Battalion, Kangpokpi.The highlight of today’s celebration was the performance of cultural programmes, mainly the Band Display by the school-girls of St. Francis De Sales School.
