5 CSOs condemn militant attack on FCI convoy killing a driver

Five prominent civil society organisations have strongly condemned the militant attack on a convoy carrying Food Corporation of India (FCI) supplies along the Imphal-Ukhrul road, which resulted in the death of a truck driver and injuries to a Manipur Police personnel.
In a statement issued by Sanjoy Sorokhaibam, Convenor of the five organisations, the groups said the attack took place at around 11 a.m. on May 29 between Leingang Ching and TM Kasom under Litan Police Station. Suspected armed militants reportedly opened fire on vehicles transporting FCI supplies from Imphal to Ukhrul, killing a truck driver and injuring a Manipur Police constable.
The organisations — All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO), POIREI Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur, All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipur, and Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) — described the attack as a heinous act and urged the authorities concerned to conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against those responsible.
The five organisations also expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased driver and wished a speedy recovery to the injured police personnel.
