‘State making all effort to make certain selected sector amongst the best in the country’
The state is making efforts to make certain selected sectors amongst the best in the country, disclosed Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in his address as the Chief Guest on the occasion of the 44th Statehood Day observation organized by the state government at the Manipur Film Development Corporation Auditorium, Palace Compound. The Chief Minister further highlighted the excellent performance displayed in certain sectors such as health, communication, power and education (high literacy rate) in comparison with the rest of the country even though the state is situated at the easternmost corner of India with challenging geographical conditions, adding that the social disturbances and frequent bandhs/blockades are preventing the implementation of various other development projects in the state. Recalling the initial years when his party took over the governance of the state, Ibobi narrated the financial and other administrative difficulties he had to overcome which was further aggravated by the inadequate amount of funds provided by the centre. He also appealed to all the ministers, bureaucrats, officers, NGOs, CSOs and every stakeholders to come together and find solutions for any differences for the state to be able to speed up the pace of progress. Deputy CM Gaikhangam and Health & Family Welfare minister Phungzathang Tonsing were also present as President and Guest of Honor respectively. Elaborating on the importance of the occasion, Deputy CM stressed on the steadily increasing pace of development, particularly during the last fifteen years and urged everyone to renew the pledge to make the state self-reliant and peaceful once again.
