The number of COVID-19 casualty in the state has reached 15 today with two more dead at JNIMS CCC and another 1 at RIMS CCC. The COVID-19 patient succumbing to COVID today at RIMS is a BSF personnel from Uttarakhand , a source said.
Considering the matter of the COVID-19 still not under control the Manipur government has extended the complete lockdown till August 31 to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state. With 192 more people testing positive yesterday, the tally rose to 4,390. New cases of COVID-19 continue to be detected amongst people who have no travel history outside the state.
A total of 78 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery rate in the state to 55.53 per cent. Manipur now has 1,939 active cases. There have been 13 COVID-19 deaths in the state so far.
Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Dr. Ch. Arunkumar, has written a letter to the Superintendent of Police Imphal West in connection with the death of the patient to make arrangement for performing its last rite. He was admitted to RIMS CCC on August 14 with serious Kidney problem and Uraemic Encephalopathy plus Anaemia besides being COVID-19 positive.
