International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba (ICOP), Kangleipak in collaboration with Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) today observed ‘Black Day’ commemorating the 287th Puya Meithaba numit (burning of meetei holly scriptures) at the Manipur University complex.
As part of the observance, the seven colours flag representing the 7 clans’of the Kangleipat was half-mast by Naoriya Amusana, President, Apok Marup Ahal 12, Hounashang Jaribond, Cachar who was the Chief Guest in the function.
The observation day was organized on the theme ‘Remember, Review & Revive for Love, Peace & Integrity’.
An academic session on the topic was also held.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Ch Ibohal Meitei,Director Centre for Entrepreneurship & Skill Development, Manipur University said a society will be recognized as a complete one in which the society has optimal material comfort perhaps have their own identity too.
We should be proud of while speaking our own language as that pride will ultimately to development, said Professor.
Talking on the importance of language in developing a society, Dr H Indrakumar and Dr Waikhom Romesh expressed unhappiness on ban over speaking of Meitei Lon (Manipuri languge) in some of Schools here in Manipur.
Namoijam Tomba, Advisor, MNF, Kangleipak (Convenor,ICOP), Ph Landhoni, President, All Manipur Recognized Pvt. School Welfare Association (Convenor ICOP), and other special Manipuri visitors from Myanmar, Bangladesh, Assam among others were attained and took part in the academic session.
