As a part of security measures in and around Imphal city area to avoid any untoward incidents, a team of Imphal west commando of City Police (Bazaar Unit) cordon off the Thangal bazaar area and conducted search operations at two different spots on Thursday noon.Under the supervision of Inspector G Thaingampou, City Unit Commando OC, the first combing operation took place at Kalibari area at around 12.30 pm of Thangal bazaar wherein 15 persons without identity cards were pulled up by the team for further verification.And another 13 persons without any identity cards were also pick-up from Khoyathong road of Thangal Bazar stretch at around 1.10 pm.In total 28 people who had not carried their identity cards were picked up by the team during the search operation. Today’s surprise combing operation lasted for more than 2 hours where the personnel of City Commando verified each person’s personal identities. Mention may be made that such surprise search operation has frequented in the Bazaar areas of Imphal since after serial blasts which took place in and around Imphal area in the recent past.
