24 non Manipuri labourers with fake identity cards were detained today morning by JCILPS students’ wing but were later released by Imphal West police. In a press conference held at AMSU office, DM College Campus, Moirangthem Angamba, Convenor of JCILPS, said that today early morning, volunteers of JCILPS detained 24 non Manipuris heading towards Imphal in a bus with the registration no. AS01/977. The labourers were reportedly sent to Manipur from West Bengal by a contractor called Vinod Kumar Gupta. When the volunteers of JCILPS student wing conducted a verification check, four of them are under 14 years and various others have fake identity cards, said Angamba. He added that the four minors will be handed over to Childline Manipur and further they would be handed over to the Childline of their respective states. He further added that flooding of non Manipuris in the state is one of the reasons for the escalation of various crimes in the state. There are many vehicles coming towards the state from various other states loaded with non Manipuris, does it mean there is an agenda to destroy the indigenous people of the state?, asked Angamba. Implementation of ILP system in the state will be the only solution to save the indigenous people of the state from these non Manipuris, asserted Angamba. Before the four kids were handed over to Childline Imphal Police deported all of the captured non Manipuris to Yumnam Leikai where they were supposed to work for a construction.
