24 hour bandh called against merger agreement affects normalcy in the state

Imphal, Sept 21: Normalcy was severely affected today in valley district of Manipur during the 24 hours bandh called by an organisation called National Revolutionary Front (NRF) today.
According to a press statement issued by the organisation the bandh began from midnight yesterday.
During the bandh almost all shops and vendors in Khwairambandh Keithel here in Imphal, educational institutions and other establishment remained closed. At Wangjing, Thoubal, Kakching , Bishnupur etc. life was put to complete halt as business establishment were shut down.
Inter district passenger service transporters, local transporters stay off the road. Vehicular movement in the capital Imphal is very less.  
At other districts like Kakching, Thoubal and Bishnupur roads bore deserted looks during the bandh today.  
The bandh is being called against the signing of merger agreement between the government of India and Manipur in 1949 on this day at Shillong.
Before the signing of the merger agreement, that is from the period between August 15, 1947 to October 15, 1949, Manipur was an independent nation which have a established government, the statement of the NRF released earlier said.
