The All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association observed its 21st Private School Day today at the Manipur Press Club. The event was attended by prominent educational leaders, with Takhellambam Ojit Singh, Chairman of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM), serving as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Laishram Joy Khuman, President of the Private Schools’ Welfare Association. Akham Joykumar Singh, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM), and N. Tomba, Advisor to the Private School body, were present as Guests of Honour.
During his address, CoHSEM Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh acknowledged the significant challenges faced by private schools in Manipur. He emphasized the crucial role that these institutions play in providing quality education to students. Singh stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, especially in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP), which aims to transform the educational landscape in India.
Laishram Joy Khuman, President of the Private Schools’ Welfare Association, highlighted some of the difficulties that private schools are currently experiencing, particularly due to new regulations imposed by the government. He urged the authorities to review and amend certain provisions of these regulations in consultation with representatives of private schools to ensure smoother operations. Khuman also expressed concerns about the increasing demands placed on private school operators, both financially and otherwise, which he described as burdensome. He appealed to all parties to refrain from interfering with the academic environment of schools, emphasizing the need for a stable and supportive atmosphere for effective education.
