2 more arrested in NIA probe into killing of 6 Naga civilians

A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has arrested two more persons in connection with the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians in Manipur.

The accused, arrested on July 18, have been identified as Lungoulal Vaiphei of Leilon Vaiphei village and Lunminthang Sitlhou alias Jack of Molhoi village, both in Leimakhong, Kangpokpi district. Officials said efforts are underway to apprehend other persons allegedly involved in the crime.

The six civilians were allegedly abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. Their bodies were recovered on June 10 near a Kuki-Zo village, a day after the release of 14 Kuki individuals who had earlier been abducted in Senapati district.

Earlier this month, the NIA-led joint team had arrested two other suspects, identified as Ayingbi and Pradip, in connection with the case.
