2 JCILPS member arrested

Imphal, March 17: Two volunteers of JCILPS identified as Sayad, Co-convenor of JCILPS and K Dhanajit, Vice-president of All Manipur Students Union have been arrested by City Police while they were trying to shut down business establishments own by non-Manipuris at Thangal bazaar.

Meanwhile, the JCILPS served their 5-charter of demands including ‘1- The issue of a pass or permit which is compulsory for all non indigenous people who comes to Manipur to hold; 2- To mark 1951 as the cut-off base year to decide who is an migrant, 3- No land ownership right to be given to any non indigenous people; 4- Installation of a full fledged labour department for proper registration of migrant labour; and 5- Detection of non indigenous people without proper identity cards and to deport them.’
