In yet another disturbing escalation of violence, two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), including an officer, were fatally wounded in a deadly skirmish early this morning. The incident unfolded when heavily armed militants, believed to be associated with the Kuki group, launched a brazen assault on a security post situated at Naransena, within the jurisdiction of Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. The attack, which occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m., claimed the lives of the two CRPF personnel while leaving two others critically injured.
Initial reports indicate that the assailants, believed to be part of the Kuki militant group, launched a coordinated assault on the B-128 Battalion of CRPF, stationed on the western perimeter of the 2nd IRB Battalion headquarters in Naranseina. Armed with sophisticated weaponry and explosives, the militants engaged in a prolonged gun battle with the security forces.
The clash, which raged on for approximately 50 minutes, claimed the lives of two CRPF personnel, including Sub Inspector N. Sarkar (55) from Kokrajhar, Assam, and Head Constable Arup Saini (40) from Bankura District, West Bengal. Additionally, Inspector Yadav Das and Constable Aftaf Hussain sustained severe injuries during the skirmish.

CM Biren condemns attack on CRPF personnel
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condemned the attack on Indian security forces that resulted in the unfortunate demise of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in the Naransena region of Bishnupur district. N. Biren Singh labeled the assault as an act of cowardice against the committed security forces who are working relentlessly to maintain peace and stability in the state. He assured that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
“Strongly condemn the assault carried out against the Indian security forces, resulting in the tragic loss of two CRPF personnel in the Naransena area of Bishnupur district. Such actions demonstrate cowardice against dedicated security personnel who work tirelessly day and night to uphold peace and stability in the state. Their sacrifice will not go in vain,” wrote Biren Singh on his social media handle.

The deceased have been transferred to the RIMS Morgue, while the injured are currently receiving treatment at RIMS Hospital. Meanwhile, in a startling discovery, security forces recovered two unexploded bombs concealed within a church located within the security complex.
Following the ambush, reinforcements from additional security units rushed to the scene to bolster defenses. However, despite the swift response, the militants managed to evade capture, fleeing towards the hillside leading to Churachandpur district.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining order and combating insurgent threats in the region. As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the deadly attack.
