1st Edition of Loktak Literary and Art Festival concludes

The 1st edition of the Loktak Literary and Art Festival, held at the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) Complex, Sendra, wrapped up today with a vibrant blend of literature, art, and music, leaving attendees inspired and connected.
Curated by Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, the two-day event fostered meaningful conversations and showcased the creative spirit of Manipur.
The highlights of the festival were the engaging sessions on various topics ranging from “poetry in the age of generative AI” to”gender and society”, featuring expert discussions on folklore, Northeast India’s history, film, and memoir writing.
Yesterday on the first day, a series of program in line with Children’s Day was showcased including a special theatre performance by children conveying the powerful message of conserving Loktak Lake, a lifeline for Manipur’s heritage and future.
The Imphal Art Gallery showcased works by Manipuri artists, adding visual splour to the event. Also, folk artist and local band brought the festival to life with soulful music, echoing Manipur’s cultural heartbeat.
Speaking on the occasion, DC. Pooja Elangbam emphasized, “Art and literature are medicines for the soul, “highlighting their role in enriching lives and fostering connection. She also announced plans to make the festival annual, blending tradition with modern creativity.
Organized by the District Administration Bishnupur, with support from NHPC and NHIDCL, the festival highlights the importance of preserving cultural identity amid modern challenges.
