Imphal, Dec 23:

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh urged the newly inducted personnel of the 10th and 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) to promote unity and harmony among all communities, a value they experienced during their training in Assam. He made these remarks during the Passing out Parade at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon, Assam, where nearly 2,000 recruits from the Manipur Police completed their training.
Assam and Manipur Governors Lakshman Prasad Acharya and N. Biren Singh attended the ceremony as the chief guests. Of the 1,984 recruits who started the training, 1,946 graduated. The basic training for the recruits began on January 29, 2024, at the Assam Police Lachit Barphukan Police Academy.
In his address, CM N. Biren Singh emphasized the significance of community harmony, particularly in light of the challenges faced by Manipur. He urged the recruits to share the positive experiences of unity they had during their training with their families. “Once we take the oath and wear the uniform, we are no longer just members of a community, but soldiers of the nation,” he stated. The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s intention to post personnel from various communities across the state.
CM Singh expressed hope that the newly trained personnel would play a pivotal role in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur. He said, “Your hard work during these months of training will be instrumental in maintaining law and order. The government is committed to peace, and your service will be key to achieving this goal.”
He also pointed out that the recruitment aimed to strengthen security along Manipur’s national highways, which have experienced frequent incidents. The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for their support in approving the recruitment drive.
The Passing out Parade was attended by a delegation of 23 members, led by CM N. Biren Singh, which included six state ministers, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Home Commissioner, Assam DGP G.P. Singh, Special DGP Harmeet Singh, and senior Army officers.
