Imphal, Dec 22:
The 191st edition of National Reconsolidation Month, Chahi Taret Khuntakpa Ningsing Thouram, under the theme “Eikhoi Amuk Hanna Khuntaklaroi,” was inaugurated today at Kamanga Awapalli, Cachar. The event is organized by the United People’s Front, Manipur (UPF) and hosted by the Awapalli Khubam Ningsing Lup, Kamanga . The event will continue until January 9, 2025.
The event was inaugurated by paying floral tribute to the statue of Meidingu Chinglen Nongdrenkhomba, popularly known as Gambhir Singh. As a part of the event Nongthombam Rupachandra, President of UPF said, “The UPF has been organizing January 9 every year as National Reconsolidation Day. Manipur is in a state of unrest due to attack by some group of people. The current situation in Manipur resembles the devastation that occurred during the Seven Years Devastation. Therefore, instead of holding National Reconsolidation Day, this year it has been extended to National Reconsolidation Month. Hence, today’s event began with floral tributes being paid to the statue of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Awa Palli, the place where he stood his ground.”
Rupachandra further said, “As part of the event, a similar program will be organized at Leng Ondabi Pat in Cachar on December 24 and after returning to Manipur, the reason for organizing such events at different locations will be shared with the public. After that, the event will conclude on January 9, the day Maharaj Gambhir Singh passed away.”
To end the current crisis in the state, everyone has a role to play, it is also important to understand how this crisis began and by remembering the footsteps of our brave ancestors, we must stand united against those who are attempting to disintegrate Manipur, Rupachandra added.
