Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) have jointly organized the 15th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day Observance today here at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Mamang.
Addressing key note of the observance, Rishikanta Yumnam, convenor, 15th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day Observance Committee & Secretary General, national Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) recalled this day of 2000 on which, thousands and thousands of people belonging to various indigenous and ethnic groups gathered here at Mapal Kangjeibung to safeguard Manipur’s territorial integrity against the extension of cease fire agreement between India Government and NSCN (IM) in the state.
Regarding the prevailing unrest in the state especially in hill areas, Rishikanta appealed all to stand firm and work together in order to bring an amicable solution.
Speaking on how to protect Manipur’s Territorial Integrity as well as Administrative set up, Dr. Rajendra Kshetri, Professor of Sociology, Manipur University as a resource person in the function, he said as we are in multi ethnic and multi cultural society, dominant community should not underestimate the other smaller communities. In order to protect Manipur’s integrity, all walk of ethnic groups and communities should have a solid ideological base. Moreover there should be a room for differentiation of opinions in Democracy. He said, each and every community has the role in protecting the cultural, territorial integrity and administrative set up of the state.
Representatives of various communities also attended the observance.
