The Paona Mongfam Protection and Celebration Committee (PMPCC) on Friday observed the 134th death anniversary of Paona Brajabasi at Arapti in Thoubal District. The program was held with traditional ceremonies, paying rich tributes to the valiant warrior.
Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament (Inner Manipur), attended the commemorative event as a special guest. Paonam Pishak, a descendant of Paona Brajabasi, also graced the occasion.
Speaking at the event, MP Bimol Akoijam hailed the legacy of Paona Brajabasi, recalling his courage and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. Quoting from the Cheitharol Kumbaba, he highlighted Paona’s resolute words: “Death is inevitable for us now. But we will never retreat.”
“This is the spirit we must remember. With these resolute words, Paona Brajabasi charged into battle,” Bimol Akoijam said, urging the younger generation to draw inspiration from the character and sacrifices of leaders like Paona.
