A day after the corpses of six civilians belonging to the Liangmai Naga ethnic group reached 100 days of being kept inside the mortuary of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), the Naga community issued a threat of agitations and even taking the victims’ bodies to the residence of the Chief Minister of the state if justice continues to be delayed.
The threat was issued during a prayer meeting and agitation programme organised at the mortuary complex of JNIMS. The members of the Liangmai Naga ethnic community and villagers from the village of Konsakhul (Konsram) met at the mortuary complex to demand justice for the six victims.
The victims were kidnapped and subsequently murdered with their bodies taken to JNIMS mortuary 100 days ago.
Konsakhul village chairman D. Adam Liangmai stated that the community is eagerly awaiting justice and pointed out that the investigation failed to pinpoint the mastermind and other main perpetrators behind the murder. According to him, the people who have been arrested till date are nothing but “pawns” of the criminals.
So far, there have been four arrests in the case, including one couple arrested on July 10 and another two individuals, named Lungoulal Vaiphei and Lunminthang Sitlhou alias Jack arrested on July 18.
