Ronie Baruah, a clean-shaven, pockmarked face with blue-tinged eyes was an overly assertive colleague in an office. Though, he seemed so simple but was much stubborn within. This bull-neck guy was the last person to go-after or listens to someone in his personal life. Hardly had he got bewildered on other’s instigation. It looks good but not all the time. This is the reason he got trapped several times into his dug well. An inflexible or pig-headed human never learns from previous mistakes. These kinds of fiercely committed people are found at large in society.
One should try to measure one’s capacity before facing the task. An abruptly persuaded risk has the possibility of an undesirable outcome and may finally invite catastrophe. A pliable one comes out with success from any situation. Showing fearlessness out of obduracy may not fetch a coveted result always. However, daredevil Baruah enjoyed taking risks. This mulish was least interested in the result but try to fulfill the crave he instilled.
The person with an appetite for taking calculative risk has a better chance of getting success, though there is a state of uncertainty always. The situation determines one’s ability and willingness to withstand risk. Risk denotes always vagueness while achieving the result-oriented objectives.
Baruah was one of those, who had a habit of using a metal paper pin as a tooth pick. After every meal, he took a paper pin for cleaning food particles deposited in teeth cavities. He did it regularly. As per the medical jargon, a metal pin should be avoided for cleaning teeth. Foreseeing the possible danger, he was warned by his wife for several occasions. He never used to listen to anyone else, once he was determined to do something. Rather he was bent on making useless arguments to prove himself right anyhow. Being down in the dumps, she thought better to ignore him, instead of tangling her legs unnecessarily.
A dismal incident took place one day when, Baruah was cleaning his teeth like any other day, after his lunch. While his flossing was on, there was a phone call from one of his distant godsend friends. He got distracted due to his serious involvement in their long-run conversation. Hence, he forgot the possession of the pin that was pressed in-between the teeth. He kept on playing up the pin with his tongue and teeth inattentively throughout the chat.
Sadly, an unpleasant hair-raising incident occurred all of a sudden. The pin got swallowed out of the blue. It got tucked somewhere in the pharynx, which was beyond the reach of his fingers to keep that out. He tried his utmost to apply many methods to remove the pin somehow but all went ineffective. He got nervous but still kept trying on his own though he was aware of its height of seriousness. He was not such a person to leave his efforts soon.
The sordid episode was helplessly experiencing by his spouse from the beginning. Visiting a doctor immediately was the relentless appeal from his her and other family members. But pigheaded Baruah tried his hand once again with another ploy.
If a person gets into trouble, initially he tries out himself for finding out a solution before visiting an expert. Baruah too thought of an absurd tactic, which was difficult to imagine so intensely, by an ordinary chap.
An old mini transistor (Radio) was lying unwanted in his home for years. Brought the toolbox and started dismantling the rusted transistor. He unscrewed the speaker after strenuous labour and removed its small piece of a magnet attached to it. Then he tied up the magnet firmly with a small metal wire and strangely pushed through the throat steadily. Likewise, he kept on fishing with the magnet by pushing back and forth to reach out to the pin time and again.
It was utterly a claptrap plan to fish out the pin that way, ignoring its probable risk. Had it been unlocked from the wire somehow, would have been life-threatening. But fortunately, after several painstaking attempts, ultimately at one time; the pin got stuck with the magnet. He was overwhelmed by this act of his innovative technique, which worked out to be effectual.
He pulled out the magnet hastily along with the pin so that it doesn’t topple in once again. But, Baruah’s thrilling moment invited a startling cry. The pin marked a dip scar by its sharp tip all along the throat when it was pulled out at a stroke. A trouble followed by another trouble. Normally, building up confidence depends on the volume, intricacy, and the inherent risk factor of the object. Or else, courage without a strategy may end up with no good result and that exactly cropped up for Baruah.
The wound was bleeding profusely and became woebegone. Except to visit a doctor, he had no option left then. Eventually, he had been dumped forcefully at the hospital for getting recovered from his self inflicted injury. It took weeks together to heal the sore. It’s up to you now, whether to feel pity, irritated, or shed tears on Baruah.
