The other side of Manipur Violence

Manipur violence that sparked during the N. Biren 2.0 government which is yet to find a solution even after 7 months finally turns out to be a blessing in disguise for the indigenous native of this erstwhile nation.
The hilly state which merged with the Union of India controversially finally became the talk of every Indian. Mainstream media who have never taken interest in front-page coverage of any bloody killings, violence, human rights-related matters, or disastrous events earlier, today put Manipur as their center stage story. Manipuris who were often asked about their country of origin and often called ‘Chinky’ at almost all the other mainland cities have finally been informed that Manipur is a part of India. Indeed most citizens of the country in both North and South India did not know that Manipur is a state of India that brings laurels of the country not only in sports and culture but also in rocket science and other academic activities.
The ongoing conflict has indeed brought misery to almost all the people of Manipur irrespective of their ethnicity. Nearly 200 lives have been lost and yesterday another 13 youths have also lost their lives. But then the country today started realizing the fact that this little erstwhile nation-state, which was once called the ‘Switzerland of India’ has been facing a serious crisis for quite a long time due to the influx of illegal migrants. Identity of the Indigenous Manipuri people including Meitei, Nagas, Thadou, etc. which have been coexisting peacefully since time immemorial is already ruined halfway and become aware to all the people only today when this violence promulgated by some vested interest people with selfish motives, happened.
The condition of Manipur’s hill where some people turned the many forest areas into poppy fields came to the notice of not only the people of India but also to the people across the globe. Considering the difficulties faced by the people of the state we too felt that this bloody violence should end, however, the wound of Ema Manipur has gone too critical, and healing this wound will take time. It was also this crisis that brought all people of Manipur’s origin to one platform under the slogan – ‘Save Manipur, protect Manipur’. On other issues, people of different organizations may have differences but when it comes to the protection of Manipur, those in Government, political parties and all civil bodies joins hand together and come out to sacrifice if needed to protect the erstwhile nation-state.
Having said so, no persons or organizations or those running the government should take advantage of this conflict that may ruin the future of Manipur. Taking important decisions by the government at a time when people silence their voices of dissent is not a sign of Nationalism. We survive with dignity by the wisdom and courage of our forefathers. Let us not make our future generation blame and spit this generation.
