The ghost of SAUBHAGAYA started haunting

A team of Manipur Police raided the office of the MSPCL and also the residence of the Managing Director of the MSPCL at his Thangmeiband residence today. Source said the raid is being conducted as per the directives of the Manipur Lokayukta in connection with a corruption case filed against the officials. No official comment has been given by the state police regarding the raid conducted today. But unconfirmed source said that the raid conducted today by state police at MSPCL office at Keishampat and at the residence of the Managing Director of the corporate office is somewhat connected with the news report carried out by Imphal Times under the heading ‘MSPDCL officials swindle over Rs 200 crores from PM Modi’s SAUBHAGYA scheme’ in its October 21 edition.
Source also reveals that the MSPDCL officials are now running here and there trying to file a case against the Imphal Times newspaper for filing the story. It is also learned that the top official of the MSPCL and the MSPDCL are consulting at the level of the Chief Secretary to file a case against the Imphal Times to save their image. But Imphal Times still stands with the news report as the report was produced based on the documents provided by them through the Manipur Information Commission. All documents provided through the Manipur Information Commission should be official and if not the MSPDCL is punishable.
“Any Information Officer who willfully provides wrong or misleading information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to any application, can be penalised Rs 25,000 by the Commissioner, plus disciplinary action can be recommended against him”. This was stated by former CIC Shailesh Gandhi.
Time and again Imphal Times had revealed that the MSPDCL had refused to provide documents to queries related to the implementation of the SAUBHAGAYA scheme sought through the Right to Information Act 2005.
“Corruption”, which the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh always took with extreme seriousness and has been appealing to people to cooperate with the government to root out from the soil of Manipur will have no meaning if the large-scale corruption that has been going on at the Manipur State Power Distribution Limited (MSPDCL) is not being checked.
Well and good the government did not intervene in the investigation carried out by the police under the directives of the Lokayukta. Considering the act of the governed and the anti-corruption cell of the state government by raiding the office and the residence of the top official of the Power department to find out those involved in corrupt practices in a state where the chief minister committed to root out .
Let us hope justice is delivered to the people by the N. Biren Singh Government by punishing whoever is involved in corruption in the state.
