No need to conduct board exams when most colleges now have entrance exams?

I think the fundamental purpose of board exam is being missed here, if not undermined. In my view, board exams exist to certify a “minimum” qualification of education. Sure, students can study for entrance exams like UPSC, CAT, JEE (Mains + Advanced), ISRO entrance, GATE, KVPY, NEET, CLAT, ESE, NDA, etc. But these competitive/entrance exams test more than just the student’s knowledge.
The format and questions are specifically designed to suit the purpose of each test conducting society thereby testing extraneous skills like temperament (on a completely different level), strategy to attempt
Why are board exam marks not sufficient for getting an admission to a good Medical or Engineering college? Why do we need different entrance exams inspite of having board scores?
Why is it that people have to pass entrance exams besides boards? Why are boards marks not taken into consideration?
Is it just me or does everyone doesn’t really pay attention to 12th board exams because we are so caught up in college entrance exams?

A completely legit question; however I think that you missed the point that not everyone in our country has access to quality schooling and education. Therefore to provide the college authorities and moreover the students a good review of all the participants abilities, board examination are conducted. The boards have to be inclusive so as to provide all kinds of students a peek into there strengths and weaknesses on the basics; so as to give a report which they can use to review and opt what should they do now and what stream to choose.

Are entrance exams really necessary?
When you say ‘Entrance Exam’ it basically means an event conducted to eliminate incompetent people(mostly and not always) and to select most deserving candidates who will be trained and released in to the community(Iol, I know it sounds funny ).
Some schools have entrance exams so that they get to know about the child’s ability and knowledge .
Children admitted through entrance exams generally are like-minded and thus they tend to progress more quickly and also pick up things quickly as compared to the normal schools where students of mixed ability study together, as in such environment less able kids tend to fall behind and get stressed or depressed due to falling behind their more able peers.

Board exam results act form an important part of resume and act as an indicator of student’s academic performance. Many prestigious colleges and universities assign separate grade points to class 10th marks and heavily rely on them while granting admission to the students.

1.) Energy drink - Drinking an energy drink about 2–3 hours from the exam will help you in concentration & focus.

Reason for the problem that questions in an entrance exam cant be solved is because the Problem Statement is twisted. The key aspect of framing such questions is not to get the answer, but to check whether one can correctly identify or evaluate
“Whether or not the candidate is able to correctly identify the desired requirement or not”.
Due to this reason, most entrance exams are MCQ based and dont have bigger solutions or complex calculations.
