Manipur Technical University (MTU) at Takyelpat has taken several initiatives to bridge gaps in the infrastructure and offer new academic programmes through the PM-DevINE programme, said VC Prof W. Chandbabu.
This came up when he was addressing the induction ceremony of the first batch of M.Tech students and launching of the Disaster Risk Reduction Club of the university.
Prof Chandbabu said that MTU has increased the M.Tech programmes to four streams after the university started its PhD programme in 2025. “We are also working to make use of infrastructure at the Engineering College at Heirok, with assistance from the state government,” he added.
“The university will also try to increase the number of students to more than 2,000 and also introduce new technical and management courses in the next two years,” he added.
According to him, the preparations have been made to start classes on Korean, Thai and Japanese under the university’s Global Outreach and Global Connect programme.
