As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign and the year-long commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, Assam Rifles conducted civic awareness and community outreach programmes in Thoubal and Chandel districts of Manipur.
The initiative was aimed at promoting national integration, patriotism and awareness of India’s freedom struggle, while connecting youth and communities in rural and remote areas with the historical significance of Vande Mataram and its enduring legacy as a symbol of devotion to the motherland.
At the Company Operating Base (COB) Thoubal and Thoubal Mela ground, a 34-member Assam Rifles contingent interacted with around 90 students and local residents through awareness sessions and visual poster presentations. The personnel also distributed the National Flag, encouraging residents to display the Tricolour as a symbol of unity and responsible citizenship.
A similar programme was held at Sehlon village in Chandel district on August 7, where Assam Rifles personnel joined 82 villagers, including children and elders, in commemorating the 150th anniversary milestone of Vande Mataram.
The programme featured a collective rendition of Vande Mataram by troops and local residents, besides the distribution of commemorative posters and tricolour face-painting for children.
The outreach programmes were conducted as part of efforts to extend national commemorative activities to rural, remote and border communities. According to Assam Rifles, such initiatives seek to promote awareness of the country’s cultural and historical heritage while fostering greater interaction and trust between security personnel and local communities.
